What is Volbella?

Volbella is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA)-based gel dermal filler made with patented Vycross technology used to augment the lips and correct fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Volbella is part of the Allergan family of Juvederm fillers and was FDA approved in May of 2016, making it one of the newest fillers on the market.

Vycross technology is a propriety filler technology from Allergan that blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid together to create a tight, efficiently cross-linked gel. This makes the filler last longer and allows it to be more smoothly injected.

How much does Volbella cost?

Volbella costs $400-600 per syringe. Generally 1-2 syringes are used on each patient per treatment. The number of syringes you will require will depend on the results you’re trying to achieve.

How long does Volbella last?

Volbella should last for one year—significantly longer than other dermal filler products currently available, but some patients may desire a touch-up at the 9 months mark.

What is the Volbella procedure like?

Volbella is injected using a very fine needle. Volbella XC includes a small amount of lidocaine, which will help minimize discomfort during the injection process. Some injectors will use a vibratory device during your injections. These devices are placed near the injection site and are used to trick your nerves to not feel the needle penetrating your skin.

Volbella injections usually take 30-45 minutes, although the exact time your injections will take will depend on your desired results.

What results should I expect from Volbella?

The results from Volbella injections are immediate. However, it may take up to 2 weeks to see your final results.  You may experience some redness or swelling immediately following your Volbella treatment, but this will subside within 24-48 hours.

What is the recovery from Volbella like?

There is no downtime following Volbella injections. You may experience minimal swelling following your injections, but this will subside within 24-48 hours.

According to Dr. Jason Wendel, a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery and advance laser procedures in Nashville, TN, unlike most other fillers, Volbella injections do not cause bruising. “As I mentioned, I haven’t seen those effects,” says Dr. Wendel. “You can get Volbella done, apply ice to reduce swelling, put on a little cover up and off you go.”

Volbella Reviews

“I’m 47-years-old and I’m so glad I decided to get Volbella to fill in the fine lines around my lips. I never smoked but looked as if I did. After getting Volbella, I felt 10 years younger. It really gave me the boost in self-confidence that every woman needs,” Mindi, a patient of Dr. Wendels says. “To be honest, I was a little nervous before the procedure, but the office staff was so comforting and personable that it helped me to feel more excited than scared. The pain was minimal especially with the numbing cream. I had zero bruising and very minimal swelling. I encourage anyone out there to give it a whirl!”
